Natural Cooling Single-Shaft PB Magnetic Powder Brake
➡The magnetic particle brake consists of an input-side drive member and a stator-fixed driven member arranged concentrically with a powder gap between them.
➡The powder gap is filled with magnetic iron powder, and the stator contains a coil that generates magnetic flux when supplied with DC power.
1️⃣ As the drive member rotates, energizing the coil creates magnetic flux that chains the powder together, coupling the drive and driven members. With the driven member fixed to the stator, this coupling produces braking force.
2️⃣When the current is switched off, the magnetic flux disappears, the powder loses its coupling force, and torque transmission to the driven member stops.
Attention for Operation of Magnetic Particle Brake
1.Correct Installation
Install the brake with the high-speed rotation side as the input side. If the input and output shafts must be reversed, keep the speed below 1000 r/min. Long-term reverse installation can cause powder mixing and significantly shorten service life.
2.Moisture Protection
Keep the internal parts dry. Moisture or oil will cause unstable performance. When used near a gearbox, oil may enter through the shaft—ensure proper sealing to prevent contamination.
3.Surface Temperature
During continuous operation, surface temperature should not exceed 90°C. Higher temperatures will reduce durability. Keep sliding use within the allowable operating range.
Before all maintenance work, turn off power and ensure the unit has completely stopped.
1.Moisture Issues
If the powder becomes damp, performance will decline. Prevent water or oil from entering the housing. When installed near gearboxes, ensure complete oil sealing.
2.Powder Replacement
Powder life varies depending on slip speed and heat dissipation. Replace the powder when torque drops to 70% or less of the initial value or when rated torque cannot be reached at rated current. For powder replacement, contact Sunrise Group.
3.Bolt Inspection
Regularly check coupling bolts and other fasteners for looseness.
